Muddassir Mehmood, MD, FACC

Seeing his mother in the role of a caring and trust-worthy physician encouraged Dr. Mehmood to pursue a career in medicine early on.

Cardiology was especially intriguing to Dr. Mehmood, given the impact of cardiovascular diseases on global health, and the opportunity to utilize multimodal diagnostic and therapeautic strategies individualized to patient needs. During his cardiology training, he became fascinated by the right heart, aka 'the forgotten ventricle', and also wanted to learn more about helping patients with advanced stages of heart failure. This led to his pursuit of additional training in pulmonary hypertension and advanced heart failure, and the career choice of practicing as a heart failure specialist.

Teaming up with patients to help them understand their disease process and empowering them to champion their heart failure care gives him great satisfaction in his position.

Dr. Mehmood and his wife are excited to make Knoxville their new home. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife stay active in their childrens activities.
