David Perkel, MD

“I became a physician to make a difference and impact people in a positive way.”

Dr. David Perkel earned his undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Molecular Biology from the University of California at Berkeley. In 2009, he earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California. Following the completion of his residency, Dr. Perkel continued his medical training with a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

As a young boy, Dr. Perkel was exposed to the field of medicine through his father, who is also a physician. His interest in cardiovascular disease stems from it being the most prevalent disease plaguing society. According to Dr. Perkel, his “greatest joy is having the privilege of being able to see [his] patient’s health improve…through simple lifestyle changes or medical intervention.”

Dr. Perkel and his wife, a clinical psychologist in Knoxville, have two young children. They enjoy spending time outdoors as a family.
